Holt is sometimes overlooked as a holiday base for exploring North Norfolk, but it is only four miles from the coast and ideally placed for visits to nearby resorts and attractions such as Sheringham, Cromer, Blakeney and Cley. The town itself is full of Georgian buildings, and has more than its fair share of interesting antique shops, art galleries and quaint cafes, many of them tucked away in back streets and courtyards.
On the edge of the town is Holt station, which is at the end of the North Norfolk heritage railway, running both steam and diesel engines. A Routmaster bus ferries passengers between the station and the town centre. The Christmas lights from late November onwards are a real visual treat!
